MINNESOTA — Minnesota’s governor will transfer his powers later this week while he undergoes knee surgery.
Governor Tim Walz’s surgery is scheduled for Thursday. During that time, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan will take over his duties.
The governor’s office says Walz will be under general anesthetic while doctors repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, a common injury in runners.
Walz expects to be back in the office Monday and to make a full recovery in less than six weeks. He’ll have the same procedure on his right knee sometime soon.
