3 residents injured in Duluth kitchen fire

DULUTH, MN — According to authorities, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on a stove at 2510 W 2nd Street in the upstairs area of the apartment on Wednesday around 8:18 p.m.

The first arriving company reported smoke coming from the windows upstairs and main entry.

Fire crews were able to perform a primary search of the apartment and confirmed everyone was outside, while quickly containing and extinguishing the fire in the stove area of the kitchen.

A secondary search confirmed all persons evacuated the building without rescue.

Two people were treated on scene and released, while another person on the second floor of the apartment sought out medical attention.

That person was helped into a Mayo Medical Ambulance and was transported to Essentia Hospital.

His injuries are not known at this time.

Damages are estimated to be $5,000 for the building and components and $2,000 for personal contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
