Duluth City Council votes down fire department new position

DULUTH, MN– The Duluth City Council denied a proposal Monday night to allow the Duluth Fire Department to add a new position.

The council held a public hearing on whether to add a third deputy chief to the department to help with training.

The vote, which needed to be unanimous to pass, failed 8-1.

Councilor Jay Fosle voted no to the proposal that ultimately wouldn’t cost the city any money to fund.

Fosle provided no comment for why he voted that way.
