Ruby’s Pantry to help feed federal employees Thursday

With the Government shutdown now approaching one month, Ruby’s Pantry-Coppertop can help provide groceries for federal employees experiencing financial difficulty.

Ruby’s Pantry-Coppertop will be distributing food at First United Methodist Church (The Coppertop), 230 East Skyline Parkway, beginning at 5:15 pm on Thursday, January 18.

Registration starts at 4 p.m. and the distribution continues until about 6:45 p.m.

There are no income or residence guidelines and anyone may participate. For a $20 donation (cash only; checks and EBT cards cannot be accepted), participants receive approximately two large boxes of food.

For this distribution, First United Methodist will pay one half of the $20 share for all Federal workers (and will pay the total price for any who need it).

Participants are asked to bring their own boxes or other containers.

Federal workers should bring proof of federal employment.

Volunteers are always needed between 3 and 8 pm.

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, call First United Methodist Church at 727-5021.

Ruby’s Pantry-Coppertop has been distributing food at First United Methodist Church on the third Thursday of every month since 2010.
