Beyond the Headlines: St. Louis County goals in 2019, plus remembering Tom Rukavina

DULUTH, MN — With all of 2019 ahead of us, lawmakers and city leaders are busy setting their priorities for the new year.

That includes the elected officials of St. Louis County, who have no small amount of work ahead of them.

The county is massive. In fact, it’s the largest county in the U.S. by total area east of the Mississippi River, and home to more than 200,000 people.

In this episode of Beyond the Headlines, we sit down with 1st. District County Commissioner Frank Jewell to hear more about the County’s priorities in 2019

The episode is also dedicated to one of St. Louis County’s most celebrated figures, and a champion of the people. Longtime Iron Ranger Tom Rukavina died at a U of M hospital last Monday after his year-long battle with leukemia. He was 68.

Dan Wolfe looks back on the life Rukavina lived, and legacy he left behind, with Commissioner Jewell.
