GREEN BAY (WKOW) – The Packers have announced Matt LaFleur as the 15th head coach in team history.
“We are very excited to welcome Matt as the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers,” said president Mark Murphy in a statement. “We found a coach with the background and experience that we think will get us back to playing winning football. We’re also excited about the person-he is bright with a great work ethic and a perfect fit for Green Bay and the organization.”
LaFleur arrived with his family at Lambeau Field on Tuesday night.
LaFleur spent last season as the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans.
The Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy in December after an unexpected loss to the Arizona Cardinals, who finished the season with the worst record in the NFL.
This year marks the second straight year the Packers have missed the playoffs.
He will officially be named as the head coach during a news conference at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
