Small businesses eagerly await second day of holiday shopping season

DULUTH, MN — With Black Friday behind us soon, shoppers are looking ahead to Saturday, and thinking small.

Small Business Saturday is a recent effort to remind those shopping at big box stores that the little, local businesses need some love as well.

Duluth is filled with small businesses, plenty of which are taking part in holiday specials.

The folks at Frost River say Saturday is an important retail day to them.

“It is great for us to get to see our customers in person, and for them to realize what goes into a small business. It is just so much different than a corporate retailer. There is more to experience than just the product. It is the whole experience. We really like to be able to see our customers face to face and be able to serve them, and thank them for their business,” says Frost River Store Manager Dawn Moen.

Frost River spokespeople say they’re also going to have a Blacksmith in front of their store on Saturday.
