Olympic Curling Trials moved from California to the Iron Range

EVELETH, MN -- U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling are headed to Eveleth.

According to USA Curling, the Trials for Mixed Doubles Curling for the 2022 Winter Games had been scheduled to be held in Irvine, California.

However, it was recently determined the venue is not conducive to properly prevent the spread of COVID-19.

So Monday, USA Curling announced the Trials will happen at the Curl Mesabi Curling Club in Eveleth.

Officials say the location helps ensure COVID-19 spread can be slowed, with full control of the facility and management of entry points.

The Trials are set for October 26-31.

USA Curling Coach Phill Drobnick, who's from Eveleth, tweeted Monday that he has no doubt the Range will be a great host for the Trials.
