DULUTH, MN -- The University of Minnesota Duluth football team is once again rising in the AFCA national poll.
After a road win at Winona State, the Bulldogs are up to number 11 in the AFCA national poll. In addition to the ranking, sixth-year quarterback John Larson has surpassed 5,000 career passing yards. He's just the fifth quarterback in UMD history to reach the milestone.
"I mean it's cool for sure, I actually didn't know, I heard last week I was close to it, but I didn't know I was one game close to it. I thought maybe by the end of the season I might hit it, but it's cool," said Larson.
He joins current offensive coordinator and national championship winner Chase Vogler as a member of the 5,000 yard club.
"John's became better as his time's been here, and as a sixth year, he's kind of an extended part of the coaching staff on the field there, and getting us into good situations and getting us out of bad situations and hopefully John can throw for a lot more yards here this year," said Vogler.
The Bulldogs are set to host Wayne State this Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the My9 Sports Network.
