WINONA, MN-- It was a battle of the NSIC elites last weekend with your no. 13 Bulldogs, who dominated against no. 5 Mankato State.

This weekend the dogs took a business trip to Winona State University with two wins already packed in their bags.

However, Tom Sawyer and his Warriors were not to be overlooked. Saturday afternoon was the battle between the two veteran quarterbacks with UMD's John Larson and Winona's Owen Burke.

In the second quarter, John Larson would find Armani Carmickle for the touchdown making Larson the 5th quarterback in UMD Football program history to record 5,000 career passing yards.

UMD would keep a strong lead through the second, 27-3.

Just when you thought the Warriors were out, they find the endzone in the 3rd quarter to tighten the gap, 26-10.

Winona battles throughout the fourth, but the Bulldogs come away with a road victory, 29-23, and remain undefeated at 3-0.

UMD is back at Molasky Stadium Saturday, September 25th, against Wayne State College. The kick-off is set for 6:05 pm.
