Minnesota nonprofit preps arrival of refugees who need shelter

MINNEAPOLIS, MN– A local non-profit is preparing to help refugees from Afghanistan who will be coming to Minnesota at the end of the month.

Lift Up is hopes to help 35 men, women, and children who need housing in the Twin Cities.

The group is asking for donations to assist families with housing and other needs including clothing, food, and household supplies.

Organizers say each family needs nearly $1,500 to cover a security deposit for safe and secure housing so helping with costs, gives them time to acclimate and find a job.

Lift Up is asking if you or a group you lead or belong to can make a financial donation to help raise $22,500 by October 1.

They will match the first $5,000 collected to meet their goal.
