DULUTH, MN-- It was one of the biggest nights for NSIC College Football on Saturday night. The twenty-ranked Bulldogs hosted third in the country Minnesota State-Mankato for their home opener back on home turf.

UMD was gunning for a win and due for one against the Mavericks because 2013 was the last time the Bulldogs took a win from MSU.

In Bulldog fashion, the stand and the field were lined with fans who were so loud and so proud. Maolsky Stadium saw a record number of people in attendance.

In the second quarter, quarterback John Larson and crew were cooking. Fifth-year senior Cazz Martin showed off his veteran skills for the significant gain ahead of the endzone.

Bulldogs leading 14-3 and sit in red zone territory where Larson rolls in for the touchdown, extending the score, 21-3.

Fast forward, and Mavericks JD Ekowa airs it out to Tanner Johnson for the touchdown. MSU trails, 21-10.

Even though the Bulldogs came into Saturday's game as the underdogs, Saturday night, they became the top dogs, clinching their first win against Minnesota State-Mankato since 2013. The script is finally flipped with a 30-10 final.
