ST. PAUL, MN-- Now that the 2021 Minnesota State Fair has come to a close for the year, the attendance numbers this time around did not impress compared to years past.
According to the fairs website attendance data, this year saw a total of 1,301,584 fairgoers.
In 2020 the fair was canceled due to the pandemic making 2019 the highest "record-setting" turnout in the last 4 years.
This year the great Minnesota get-together ran from Aug. 26 to Sept. 6 and set no daily attendance records.
After coming off of a year with no fair in 2020, people may have been hesitant to part take this year.
However, Gov. Tim Walz launched a vaccination site at the fairgrounds.
Nearly halfway through the 12-day event, he announced almost 1,200 people were vaccinated on the fairgrounds, and on the last day, the total vaccinated was 3,118.
Walz made a state fair appearance with a stop at Sweet Martha's Cookies.
As for next year, the fair will run Aug. 25 – Labor Day, Sept. 5, 2022.
