FAYETTE, IA -- The University of Minnesota Duluth football team earned a 41-14 win over Upper Iowa to open their 2021 football season.

It was their first competitive game in 647 days after their 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. Sixth-year quarterback John Larson tied a school record with six touchdowns, including five in the first half alone.

The Bulldogs will return home in week two for Military Appreciation Day on September 11th. They'll host Minnesota State in a clash of the top-ranked teams in the NSIC. The game will be streamed live on the My9 Sports Network.
