DULUTH, MN -- After a full year of delay, the USA Hockey Level Five Coaches Symposium is officially underway.
The event was supposed to take place in 2020 at the DECC, but it was delayed due to COVID-19. The Level Five Coaches Symposium is for aspiring coaches to earn the highest level of coaching certification with USA Hockey.
The first night of the four-day event was headlined by an open discussion with a panel of NCAA DI men's hockey coaches in Minnesota. UMD's Scott Sandelin, St. Cloud State's Brett Larson, Minnesota State's Mike Hastings, and Bemidji State's Tom Serratore took the stage to answer questions about high-level hockey, and field questions from the audience.
Over the course of the weekend, four different NHL coaches will lead sessions at the DECC. UMD women's hockey associate head coach Laura Bellamy will also take part in a discussion panel on Friday afternoon.
The event is usually held once every two years and will conclude on Sunday afternoon. For the full schedule of events, click here.
