Shooting suspect arrested after police chase, crash in Virginia

VIRGINIA, MN -- A suspect in a shooting on the Bois Forte Reservation was arrested in Virginia Wednesday after leading police on a chase and eventually crashing his vehicle.

According to Virginia's Police Chief, the Bois Forte Police Department notified Virginia Police of a shooting in their area around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle involved in the shooting was described as a 2003 green Nissan Xterra SUV.

Around 3:30 p.m., the vehicle was located in Virginia.

Virginia Police tried to stop the vehicle near 2nd Avenue South and 3rd Street.

The driver of the vehicle didn't stop and eventually crashed on the 500 block of 2nd Avenue North.

No one was hurt in the crash.

The 45-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the St. Louis County Jail.

Virginia Police did not immediately share details about the shooting or how the suspect in the police chase may have been involved.
