DULUTH, MN-- The historic Hills Youth and Family Services shut its doors for good Wednesday following a closing ceremony.
Leaders of the Woodland Hills facility say this is a sad day for their staff and student body.
Starting as an orphanage, the Hill's program has been around since 1909 working to teach kids lessons they can carry with them throughout life.
Chaplain Teresa Tomanek knows her students will go on to be the leaders of today's world.
"If I could say something to a student, it would be: remember the important lessons that you learned here, carry them out and give them to others. Much like we were lighting candles, bring that light into the world," she said.
The organization is thankful for the positive impact that the program has made in their students' lives.
