Sturgeon Lake man gets 30 years, girlfriend gets 19 for producing child porn

AITKIN CO., MN -- After an ongoing investigation, a Northland couple has been sentenced to decades in prison for producing child pornography.

Matthew James Gunderson of Sturgeon Lake and Amanda May Walsh of Aitkin appeared in federal court for said events of sexual abuse and now face several decades behind bars.

According to court documents, in January of 2019, a third party reported the discovery of suspected child pornography after borrowing the cell phone belonging to Walsh.

Gunderson was sentenced to 360 months and Walsh was sentenced to 228 months, with an additional 10 years each of supervised release.

The two have been ordered to register as sex offenders upon release from prison and will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration requirements, which may apply throughout their lives.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.
