Proceedings for Battees, 17, involved in Duluth shooting suspended for health evaluation

DULUTH, MN-- The case against a 17-year-old charged in the fatal shooting downtown Duluth is on hold while he undergoes a mental health evaluation.

During a court hearing Thursday, attorneys said the proceedings for Patrick Battees of Proctor involved in the shooting and killing of 22-year-old Juamada Anderson will remain suspended as they await the findings of an evaluation.

Court documents say Battees shot Anderson in the head after a fight broke out at an apartment building May 22.

A third suspect connected to the shooting, Marcus Morris, is still being sought by police on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
