BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. -- Minnesota Department of Health has approved new mask guidance for outdoor sports.

Masks will no longer be required for outdoor contests and practices. Since the reinstatement of high school sports in January, athletes had been required to wear masks during competition.

Officials and coaches are still required to wear masks at all times, and athletes are required to wear masks when not actively practicing or playing, and in situations where they cannot maintain social distancing.
