DULUTH, Minn. -- Former UMD standout Cole Koepke is officially moving on to play at the next level.
Koepke has signed a two-year, entry level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL. He will report to their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch to finish the remainder of this season.
The Two Harbors native, and former Hermantown Hawk played three seasons with the Bulldogs. He says the moment he'll always take with him from his time at UMD is winning the national championship in 2019 (his freshman season).
"It's the people around here. Hockey is one thing, but they really care about having the right people, and good people. I feel very fortunate to be around some of the best people the past three years," said Koepke.
He scored 38 goals in 104 career games with the Bulldogs. For the full Tampa Bay press release, click here.
