UMD softball sweeps Wayne State in first home series in 705 days

DULUTH, MN -- The UMD softball team earned a clean sweep of Wayne State in their 2021 home-opening series.

It was the first time the Bulldogs have taken their home turf since April of 2019, a total of 705 days.

In game one, UMD rallied back from a 4-2 deficit in the 6th inning. Kelly Swank doubled into left field to bring home the winning run in the 7th inning.

Game two was less dramatic, as pitcher Lauren Dixon shut down Wayne State. The Bulldogs earned a 6-0 win to complete the sweep.

Up next, UMD will host Augustana at Malosky Stadium on Saturday for Senior Day.
