ELY, MN-- The Ely School District is handing out free at-home COVID test kits to families to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

In a Facebook post from Ely Public Schools Administration Team, Ely Public Schools and St. Louis County Public Health are now offering free COVID-19 saliva test kits for families.

With the recent uptick in COVID cases, families can now test at home whether symptomatic or not.

Test kits can be picked up at Washington Elementary School Thursday, April 1 between 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m.

How it works:
- Go home and follow the instructions in the test kits.
- Drop off the Saliva Test at a UPS drop-off in the enclosed pre-addressed envelope located in your test kit.

In the later part of March, Ely Public Schools reported 27 COVID cases in their buildings, forcing the elementary, middle, and high school to revert to distance learning for two weeks.

School officials are hoping that reset and free COVID tests will stop the virus from spreading further.
