Essentia to get Johnson & Johnson vaccine; residents 65 plus can call to make appointments

DULUTH, MN-- The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will soon be available to Duluth residents 65 and older, this additional allocation will help in reaching the 70 percent threshold to move on to other groups.

With the Johnson & Johnson vaccine arriving, Essentia Health is vaccinating residents who are at least 65 and older and living in the hospital's service area.

Residents do not have to be a patient at Essentia to get the shot.

If you have a MyChart account already, you can begin to make appointments starting March, 5.

To sign up for MyChart, visit and click on the MyChart button in the upper right-hand corner; then click “sign up.”

According to Essentia Health rep. the hospital has given more than 45,000 vaccines in Minnesota since December.

State health officials say more than 45,000 doses of the newly approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine should arrive in Minnesota this week.
