WIAA supports new legislation to protect officiating crews

STEVENS POINT, WI -- The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association is supporting a new bill that aims to protect high school officials.
The new legislation would make it a Class A misdemeanor to intimidate or harass a sports official. In Wisconsin, it is currently a Class B forfeiture to commit such an action.
The bill proposes a fine of up to $10,000, along with up to nine months in jail/prison.
