DULUTH, MN – Quincy Media Inc., parent company of KBJR 6 and CBS 3, announced Monday its shareholders approved the sale of the company to Atlanta, Georgia-based Gray Television, Inc.
The sale, which is subject to federal regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2021.
The sale includes all of the company’s television and radio properties, which serve 16 markets.
In a video message to employees Monday morning, Ralph Oakley, Quincy Media President and CEO, said Gray intends to offer everyone currently employed at their television stations a job, “which is great news for the stations and the communities that they serve.”
“In looking at the roster of Gray Television stations, there are several in close proximity that will provide us with the potential of greater synergy,” said Todd Wentworth, KBJR 6 & CBS 3 Vice President & General Manager.
In a news release, Gray Television said they believe that the "deep similarities between Gray and Quincy in terms of company cultures, award-winning journalistic commitments, and exceptional community service will help ensure a smooth integration of the acquired stations."
Once the sale is finalized, Gray will own televisions stations in 102 markets across the country.
