DULUTH, MN-- Essentia Health held a vaccine rollout webinar on Friday afternoon to update the public on their efforts.
Over 1,000 people tuned in for the update as the vaccine becomes more widely available.
Currently, Essentia is only vaccinating hospital employees.
According to Essentia officials, over 5,000 staff members system-wide have received both doses.
As more doses become available, they hope to make those available to people over the age of 65 in the coming weeks.
The State of Minnesota currently allows for people over the age of 65 to be vaccinated while Wisconsin is expected to start next week.
The number of vaccines that will be available is still unknown according to Dr. Sarah Manney Chief Medical Information Officer for Essentia.
"We are uncertain from each of our states what our vaccine allocation will be, and it is possible that our appointments for the vaccination may change subsequent to the allocations that we receive," said Dr. Manney.
If you are an Essentia Health patient, you are asked to check the "My Charts" website and you will be notified as vaccines become available and it is your turn.
For non-Essentia patients, an online form will be released to the public in the coming weeks.
