After almost a two week hiatus, the UMD men's basketball team will return to the court this Friday when they host the University of Mary.
It's been an interesting week for the team so far as they held their first practice since they were shut down on Tuesday.
On top of that, they will only have two full practices before their game on Friday.
Just one day of testing remains and head coach Justin Wieck says they have to get over that hurdle. Once they do that, he says the team's mentality remains the same.
"The expectations in this program, these guys know what they are, it's to win. Mary or whoever we play is not going to feel sorry for us, so we have to be ready to roll. The expectation of these guys is to win both of these games this weekend," said Wieck.
Tip-off for Friday's game is scheduled for 6 PM.
As for the women's squad, their weekend contest against Mary has been called off due to exposures and testing protocols within the program.
The team admits it's been a hard situation but is looking at the postives.
"When we're on this rollercoaster ride this year, just make the best of it and be there for each other. We have basically two choices you can have a terrible attitude and feel sorry for yourself or just keep pushing forward, trying to make yourself better in any way that we possibly can while we go through moments like this," said head coach Mandy Pearson.
UMD will return to action on January 22nd at MSU-Moorhead.
