Former state senator Erik Simonson begins new role as lobbyist

ST. PAUL, MN -- The man who just became a former Duluth state senator has a new job.

Erik Simonson will work as a lobbyist for St. Paul law firm Flaherty and Hood.

Simonson served in the Minnesota House and State Senate, representing Duluth.

He lost a primary re-election bid to fellow DFLer Jen McEwen last summer.

Simonson is also a former assistant chief at the Duluth Fire Department, and former CEO of the Lake Superior Zoo.

He says he is excited for the new role and aims to boost Minnesota communities and businesses.
