VIRGINIA, MN -- Bill Hanna, a titan of Iron Range journalism for more than three decades, has died.
According to the Mesabi Tribune, Hanna died at his home in Virginia Monday morning.
Hanna was the longtime executive director of the Mesabi Daily News, and had been with the paper for more than 30 years.
In 2016, he suffered a massive heart attack, and later underwent a successful heart transplant.
But recently, Hanna was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away Monday at the age of 70.
All across Minnesota, Hanna is being remembered by industry and state leaders.
Senator Amy Klobuchar issued a statement Tuesday night. saying Hanna provided Rangers with the news and never shied away from hard truths.
Klobuchar said his career and dedication to the community were remarkable.
