Iron Range fire departments kept busy on Christmas Eve night

VIRGINIA, MN -- It was a busy Christmas Eve night on the Iron Range.

According to Friends of the Northland FireWire, flames broke out at a home on 8th Street South in Virginia around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the second story.

They quickly put it out.

No word on the extent of damage.

No one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.

Minutes after the Virginia fire started, another fire broke out at a home in Eveleth, on Summit Street.

According to the FireWire, six departments responded and put the fire out, but not before about $30,000 in damage was done.
