Fond du Lac Reservation receives 700 doses of COVID-19 vaccine

CLOQUET, MN -- The Fond du Lac Reservation received 700 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday morning.
FDL Medical Director Dr. Charity Reynolds was the first healthcare worker to receive the vaccination.
The first round will prioritize front-line healthcare workers and at-risk elders, the band said in a news release.
Fond du Lac leaders have reported 176 positive cases among their 4,200 members on and off the reservation.
"We are currently in a surge in positive cases, and this vaccine gives us the light at the end of the tunnel," Chairman Kevin Dupuis said.
The Moderna vaccine is a two-dose series, meaning a booster shot is administered at least 28 days after the initial shot to maximize efficiency.
