VIRGINIA, MN -- An Eveleth man charged in connection with a 2019 shooting and stabbing on the Iron Range was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.
Luke Erkkila pleaded guilty in September to first-degree assault resulting in great bodily harm, a felony.
According to the criminal complaint, Erkkila shot and stabbed Scott Kesler multiple times outside a home in Virginia on July 26, 2019.
The complaint states Erkkila approached Kesler and said, “she’s leaving me because of you", referring to Kesler's sister, who Erkkila was allegedly dating at the time.
Kesler was treated for a gunshot wound to the head.
