Nebraska-Omaha rallies to edge out UMD in extended shootout

OMAHA, NE -- The UMD men's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday afternoon.

Nick Swaney tallied a pair of goals in the first and second periods to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage heading into the third.

Early in the final period, Luke Loheit took a major game misconduct penalty for contact to the head, sparking a Mavericks power play goal. Omaha would rally with another goal to force overtime, and ultimately pick up an extra point in the ensuing shootout.

Chayse Primeau scored in the sixth round to seal it for the Mavericks. UMD drops to 4-1-2 on the season.
