CARLTON COUNTY, MN -- A local bank was in the giving spirit Wednesday and it could help save lives

Frandsen Bank and Trust donated a drone to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office.

Until now, they haven't had access to updated drone technology.

They say this will allow them to reduce response times, assist in search and rescues, maximize search areas, reconstruct crash scenes, firefighting, and more.

"I think in the future, we'll see more of this and be able and use them for more scenarios that come along, not just in law enforcement but public safety rescue," said Cloquet Police Chief Derek Randall.

First responders were also able to test the drone out Wednesday and get hands-on training before it gets put into use.
