DULUTH, MN-- Congressman Pete Stauber held a round table discussion Thursday afternoon centered around trade and how the 8th district can improve.
Stauber gathered trade leaders from across the Northland that specialize in a range of areas, from timber to mining, Duluth's seaports, and many more.
The Congressmen said he was using this as an opportunity to listen to what can be improved across the district and bring the ideas to back to Washington.
"We want to know what's happening on the ground, what are you seeing, what are you hearing, what are you feeling, and then that gives us an idea as we go back to D.C to put forth legislation that helps your economic drivers succeed," said Rep. Stauber.
Topics covered included the status of the struggling timber industry, and the benefit of an investment in more ice breakers would have to help the port open for longer and expand the trade season.
