Minnesota teachers start considering early retirement, new professions

DULUTH, MN -- The mental impact of COVID-19 has been felt by people young and old across different industries in the U.S. According to a new survey, teachers are being hit especially hard.

The survey of members of Education Minnesota found that nearly one-third of teachers are considering leaving the teaching profession due to stress and an overwhelming workload.

This year teachers have been asked to juggle constantly changing learning plans from in-person, online, and hybrid.

The survey suggests the stress and anxiety is not sustainable for the remainder of the school year.

This comes as Minnesota is already facing a teacher shortage.
