BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. -- The Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors has officially approved a plan to hold a winter sports season in the 2020-21 school year.

They have approved a "Mazimized Winter Sports Plan" that includes a 30 percent reduction in regular season contests.

In addition, the MSHSL Board also determined that they would not hold a state tournament for fall sports. There was also a discussion to hold section championship matchups, which was voted down 10-8.

Fall sports will still be able to hold a postseason, but will be limited to sections.
