DULUTH, MN -- Democratic candidates gathered in Duluth Monday, ahead of President Donald Trump's campaign stop this Wednesday.
Mayor Emily Larson was joined by U.S Senator Tina Smith and other DFL candidates this morning for a small campaign rally at Leif Erickson Park.
Candidates spent the time reaffirming their party's commitment to everyday Americans and blue collar workers as well as encouraging attendees to get out and vote.
Senator Smith also took the time to address the brewing senate battle over President Trump's nomination to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat following the death of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg.
"The next president of the United States should be the person who nominates the next supreme court justice no matter what rule Mitch McConnell makes up," says Smith.
The DFL also used the campaign stop as an opportunity to recruit volunteers.
