MADISON, WI -- A new Wisconsin counseling program aims to meet a growing need among farmers.

The state-run Farmer Wellness program gives farmers 24/7 access to a mental health counseling hotline.

According to Wisconsin Public Radio, the pilot program also includes on-going virtual counseling options and vouchers for counseling from a local provider.

The Wisconsin Farm Center staff say there has been an increase in anxiety among farmers due to the pandemic disrupting the supply chain.

The pilot program will continue for the next seven months.

To access the hotline, call 1-800-942-2474.
