2020 Grill Wars cancels annual burger battle

Duluth, MN-- The reality of the coronavirus has stopped another Northland event from happening.

Midwest Communications has decided to cancel Grill Wars 2020 amid the ongoing pandemic.

Restaurants and meat markets from around the area have been battling every summer for the last 10 years to win bragging rights on the best tasting burger.

The event has become one of the biggest fundraisers for the Boys and Girls Club of the Northland, raising more than $22,000 last year.

“It’s just the reality of dealing with the fallout of the virus and the concern to keep our listeners and the general public safe that we have reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s event," said Vice President for Midwest Duluth, Shawn Skramstad."

They plan to hold the event again in 2021.
