Duluth shooting suspect arrested after police chase in Superior

DULUTH, MN -- A suspect in a shooting in Duluth Friday was arrested in Superior after allegedly leading police there on a chase and crashing into a pond.

The shooting happened around 11:53 a.m. in Duluth's Central Hillside neighborhood near Harbor Highlands.

A 32-year-old Duluth man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Superior Police, shortly after the incident, authorities shared a description of a vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting.

Around 12 p.m., a Superior police officer saw a vehicle matching that description entering Superior from the Bong Bridge.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly led authorities on a chase before crashing into a water holding pond in the Billings Park neighborhood.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is in custody, according to Superior Police.

Duluth Police said the person arrested in Superior is a person of interest in Friday's shooting, but did not identify the individual or say if they are known to the victim.

According to Duluth Police, they responded to the Harbor Highlands development in the Central Hillside neighborhood on the report of a shooting at 11:53 a.m. Friday.

The victim was taken to a local hospital.

His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

An investigation is underway.

There was no immediate word from Duluth Police on if they've identified a suspect or if the parties were known to each other.
