PROCTOR, MN-- Four area girl's hockey teams are getting a jump start on the 2020 season.
Duluth, Proctor/Hermantown, Hibbing, and Grand Rapids/Greenway took part in a three day scrimmagefest.
But it wasn't like their typical scrimmage as regulations were in place to promote safety.
Players were without locker rooms and weren't allowed into the facility until it was their time to play.
Mirage head coach Emma Stauber says regulations aside, the teams were just happy to be on the ice.
"I think that's one of the biggest things is try to get some normalcy back in their lives. Get them competing, get them on the ice, run their friends, and run their teammates that are working together. It's been interesting but like I said we're trying to take advantage of the opportunity that we have," said Stauber.
The tournament concluded on Sunday.
