SUPERIOR, WI-- The Military Order of the Purple Heart received a donation of a 1976 Chevy Laguna S-3.

They partnered with Benna Ford in Superior, who then collaborated with Lake Superior College students to restore the car.

They refinished the hood, trunk, doors and gave the car a fresh coat of paint.

Blake Warren, a graduate of Lake Superior College, worked on the car and is glad it supports a good cause.

"It's just a good thing for the veterans and everything else," Warren said. "I'm just happy that money is going to a great cause rather than just being sold for someone privately."

A buyer in Michigan bought the car for almost $14,750.

All the proceeds will go to the local chapter of the Purple Heart, which helps combat wounded veterans in northern Minnesota.
