DULUTH, MN-- Now under one roof, UMD College of Liberal Arts and the UMD School of Fine Arts will offer students 38 majors, 33 minors, and three certificate programs.
The two officially combined programs on Wednesday, July 1.
The newly formed program is retaining the name UMD College of Liberal Arts.
College officials said the program draws on the existing expertise in fields including the fine arts, social sciences, and humanities and streamlines the ability for students to customize their degree paths.
Officials are working on shaping the future of the united college with faculty, staff, and student voices.
All previous programs in art, art history, music, and theatre remain intact.
UMD College of Liberal Arts Dean Jeremy Youde said, "Bringing together so many programs in a single college opens up an even wider range of exciting opportunities for students. We're all excited to work together to ensure the vibrancy of the fine arts, social sciences, and humanities at UMD."
