VIRGINIA, MN-- A police squad car caught fire inside a Virginia Police Department garage Friday morning.

According to Virginia Mayor Larry Cuffe Jr., a squad car caught fire from inside the building around 11:20 a.m.

He said the fire spread to another squad car, destroying both vehicles including all the equipment and weapons inside.

The garage attachment is apart of City Hall. Mayor Cuffe said City Hall is closed for the holiday weekend and no one was inside.

The Mayor said City Hall did receive some smoke damage as a result.

At this time, the fire is out. Crews are sweeping the area checking for hot spots and if any damage spread.

There were no injuries.

Officials are working to determine and exact cause.
