Hunter Shepard signs first professional contract in AHL

HERSHEY, Penn. -- Former UMD Bulldog goaltender Hunter Shepard announced via Twitter that he has signed his first professional hockey contract.

The Cohasset, Minnesota native signed with the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals.

In his time at UMD, Shepard lead the Bulldogs to a two national championships. He was also voted 2019 MVP by his teammates.

Shepard is the fifth Bulldog to sign a pro contract this offseason, joining co-captain Nick Wolff, Scott Perunovich, Dylan Samberg, and Justin Richards.
