DULUTH, MN. -- Despite the ongoing pandemic, the Duluth Seeds of Success has opened their farmer's markets for the season.
The Central Hillside Farmers Market at the Damiano Center welcomed its first guests of the season Tuesday afternoon. Many who attended wore masks, could only enter through one way and stood six feet apart.
The market was filled with fresh produce, baked goods, and flowers.
Organizers also gave kids $4 toward fresh fruits and vegetables to make sure they get the necessary nutrients during the summer months.
"With proper nutrition, which kids aren't getting from their school lunch programs which don't run in the summertime, we just want to make sure we have an outlet to get kids local healthy foods as well," said Evan Flom, Program Manager for Seeds of Success.
The Central Hillside Farmers Market runs every Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. for the rest of the summer.
The Lincoln Park Farmers Market will be held at the Harrison Community Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
