Small plane suffers damage in rough landing in Ely

ELY, MN -- The pilot of a small plane walked away after a rough landing at the Ely Municipal Airport this morning.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the airport just before 11:30.

They say the Piper Malibu fixed wing, single engine plane sustained only minor damage to its prop and front landing gear.

The pilot was identified as a 75-year-old Nebraska man.

The FAA is investigating.
