Suspect in custody after allegedly killing father, injuring mother in Hayward

HAYWARD, WI-- A 34-year-old man is in custody after allegedly killing his father and severely injuring his mother in a domestic incident.

Authorities arrived to a Hilton Avenue residence in Hayward just before 1 P.M on Saturday.

When they arrived they found 72 year-old, Thomas L. Farnsworth dead from an apparent stab wound and 65 year-old Juli A. Farnsworth with severe facial injuries and lacerations. Both are from St. Paul, Minnesota.

Mrs. Farnsworth was flown to a Minnesota hospital. No word on the extent of her injuries or current condition.

A 34-year-old Colorado man, who reported to be the son of the victims, is currently being held in the Sawyer County Jail on charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and Substantial Battery.

The incident is under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office, Sawyer County Coroner's Office with assistance by the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin Crime Lab and Wisconsin State Patrol.
